1986 field

It’s that time again. My favorite weekend of the year, All-Star Weekend, is upon us. The league gathers for three days and puts on a yearly show. Even better, the league decided to add a new event this time around in Phoenix — H-O-R-S-E. It’s an event fans have wanted for years. Now they got it. Except they’re calling it G-E-I-C-O, based on their sponsor. I’m expecting big things. My predictions:

Rookie vs. Sophomores:
Sophomores are better, but the Rookies will pull out the win.

Shooting Stars:
Team LA dethrones San Antonio with the addition of Coop.

Joe Johnson has some tricks up his sleeve.

Skills Challenge:
Tony Parker is French.  He can’t possibly win. I’m going with Devin Harris.

Three-Point Shootout:

Kapono for the trifecta!

Slam Dunk Contest:
Dwight will probably win again, but it will be much closer than everyone thinks.

On a side note, Vladimir Radmanovic got traded last week. He’ll be missed, but it’s for the best. We’ll remember him for a lot of things, from sitting in PJ’s chair, to wearing his Vans to practice, but mostly for breaking his shoulder while snowboarding and lying about it. He truly was one of a kind.
